It's a Puppetry Jam! That means an evening of creativity, community, and hands-on puppetry fun! Whether you're brand new to puppetry or already a puppeteer, this event offers a welcoming space to learn, practice, and perform. Throughout the Jam, you'll engage in a guided technique lesson, participate in a quick performance workshop, and take the stage in a supportive showcase. Come ready to explore the art of puppetry, sharpen your skills, and bring characters to life. We can’t wait to see you there!
Technique The night kicks off with a practical puppeteering lesson led by members of Electric City Puppets. This session is designed for anyone looking to improve their puppetry, from complete beginners to puppeteers fine-tuning their craft. You'll explore essential techniques such as movement, lip-sync, and character expression, all while getting hands-on experience. Try new skills, and gain confidence in bringing objects to life!
Workshop In the workshop section, you'll learn an improvisation game that will later be showcased on stage. This session also serves as an open lab where you can seek feedback, experiment with different styles, and workshop ideas for any puppetry projects you’re working on. The workshop is an opportunity to collaborate, explore, and refine your puppetry practice in a supportive environment.
Showcase Time to shine! We’ll spin the chairs, set the stage, and celebrate the evening’s creativity. Participants will have the chance to step up and perform in small groups, trying out the improv game learned earlier or showcasing other puppetry skills. This is a low-pressure, high-energy opportunity to perform, experiment, and cheer on fellow participants. Whether you take the stage or enjoy the show from the audience, we'll wrap up the night with cheers and laughter!
